The Nature Conservation Council of NSW (NCC) represents the interest of the environment on more than 100 committees across NSW. We are also represented on national and international committees.
The formality of the appointment varies. Some committees are set up through specific legislation and NCC has a legal right to be represented on the committee. Other committees require a representative of conservation or environmental issues. As the peak environment organisation for NSW, NCC is acknowledged as an appropriate nominator of such representatives.
Some individuals may be nominated to represent environmental interests, but not to represent the interests of NCC. In this case they are considered NCC nominees rather than NCC representatives.
Occasionally nominations are made jointly with other organisations such as the National Parks Association of NSW. The committees that we are represented on are listed in each Annual Report. Vacancies are advertised below and applications are considered at the monthly Executive Committee meetings. You can view also view the NCC Nominations Protocols.
If you would like to be considered for any of the below representative vacancies, please complete and return the NCC Representative Application Form, with a short curriculum vitae, as well as any supporting information on your suitability for the position to email@example.com.
Calling for Nominations
Call for Expressions of Interest for NCC nominees for the Noxious Weeds Advisory Committee
The Nature Conservation Council of New South Wales is calling for expressions of interest from interested and suitably qualified individuals to apply to be an NCC nominee for theNoxious Weeds Advisory Committee. Previous applicants andnominees are welcomed and encouraged to re-apply.
The Noxious Weeds Advisory Committee (NWAC) was established under the Noxious Weeds Act 1993 to: provide a forum for consultation about the control of noxious weeds; provide advice to the Minister on all matters related to noxious weed control; recommend to the Minister allocations from the Government’s noxious weeds action program; and recommend plant species to be declared as noxious weeds by the Minister.
Members of the Noxious Weeds Advisory Committee are appointed by the Minister for Primary Industries for a fixed term. In addition to providing advice to the Minister and NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI), committee members are expected to keep their nominating organisations informed about developments and issues concerning noxious weeds.
