Our structure
The Nature Conservation Council of NSW (NCC) is a grassroots, democratic organisation. Elections are held annually to determine the executive members (12 in total). The executive decide the strategic direction of the organisation. The executive are all environmentalists who belong to a member group.
NCC also appoints conservation representatives onto many government committees. In some cases this is a statutory obligation. We have a democratic process of appointing these representatives. To find out more about becoming a representative, contact our Outreach Officer (ncc@nccnsw.org.au)
Funding
NCC’s funding comes from a number of different of sources, including:
- donations;
- fees for services;
- membership fees;
- sales of merchandise;
- NSW Government;
- Federal Government; and
- grants from foundations.
Membership
NCC accepts membership applications from all non-government conservation organisations in NSW. A group must be accepted by the executive at a monthly meeting before joining NCC. At present we have about 100 member groups.
Current Campaigns and Programs
NCC is currently campaigning across a range of issues, including:
- Climate Change
- Biodiversity
- Forests
- Marine and Fisheries
- Rivers and Wetlands
- Mining and Gas
- Planning
- Waste
- Sustainability.
In addition, NCC also delvers a number of community engagement programs, including:
- Bushfire Management
- Hotspots Fire Project
- Community Climate Challenge
- Food Waste Challenge.
