Thanks to your support, the NSW government has withdrawn its backing of the Shooters party's proposed five-year ban on new marine parks and sanctuaries in NSW. This is a great decision for marine conservation.
We would like to thank the thousands of members and supporters who signed petitions, sent emails to MPs, called their local member, wrote letters to the editor, and spread the word through twitter and facebook.
We also couldn't have done it without the invaluable support of more than 40 state and national environment groups who joined the Nature Conservation Council and National Parks Association in our calls against the proposed legislation.
