Submissions to the Taskforce on Tourism and National Parks have now closed.
The Nature Conservation Council of NSW and the National Parks Association of NSW, supported by the Blue Mountains Conservation Society and other member organisations, sent a submission asserting our core principle that nature conservation is the primary function of national parks and wilderness areas. Thank you to all our members and supporters who added their voice re-affirming our strong opposition to any change to the National Parks and Wildlife Act or the Wilderness Act . The secret’s out. Our National Parks are places we should all go and visit and the NSW Government wants to encourage this. But some industry lobbyists are pushing for less eco-friendly outcomes. |

In recognition of the mounting threats to the effective conservation of biodiversity, the Nature Conservation Council of NSW commissioned the Environmental Defender’s Office of NSW to prepare a discussion paper on the state of biodiversity conservation in the state.
This report has identified 35 recommendations for addressing the ineffective nature of the current regulatory regime.
The report is meant to serve as a tool for discussion with government and within community groups. |
