Support the Nature Conservation Council As the State's peak environmental organisation since 1955, the Nature Conservation Council works closely with member groups, local communities, government and business to ensure a positive future for our environment. As the peak organisation for more than 120 environmental groups in NSW, and with conservation councils in each state, we facilitate large-scale awareness and education campaigns, in addition to producing original research and publications. Your support can ensure we continue this vital work.
With your support we have been able to: - Attract more than 40,000 people to Walk Against Warming in Sydney, a demonstration against inaction on climate change
- Successfully lobby the NSW Government to introduce a mandatory renewable energy target
- Assist environment groups around NSW to increase their capacity to achieve change by holding educational workshops in regional areas
- Provide a gateway between the environment movement and the NSW parliament
- Work alongside the local community to achieve protection for our fragile western woodland
- Successfully pressure the NSW Government to put more water back into our dying rivers
- Launch our "Adopt a Shark" program to help save the grey nurse shark
- Help kick-start local community action groups to get active on climate change
- Initiate the successful Hotspots Bushfire Project, which aims to educate landowners on ecological fire practices
