A non-profit organisation and registered charity, we rely on volunteers to assist us in our busy office located in central Sydney. Opportunities for voluntary work consist of helping both administrative and project staff with office support, campaign assistance or environmental research. The work would suit environmental science/studies student and graduates as well as people of all ages with relevant skills and an interest in environmental issues who can spare half/one day a week on a regular ongoing basis. Currently we have project officers working on climate change, marine environment, fisheries, freshwater, bushfire, native vegetation, urban sustainability, education and more. Admin Assistant Are you bored? Retired and want something worthwhile to do? Or find you have some free time now the kids are in school? Why not come along and be part of a great team. We are looking for an administrative assistant to help with database management and general administrative tasks. You will be working closely with the Office Manager and Fundraising Officer, but you will have the opportunity to become involved in other aspects of our work if you wish. We will need you to commit to 4-8 hours a week (9am - 5pm M-F) on a long term basis (at least 3 months). An essential requirement of this position is excellent English language skills, both spoken and written. Shark Swim Challenge Marketing InternPosition Description Minimum 8 hours per week for a minimum of 8 weeks, starting from January 2010. The Nature Conservation Council of NSW (NCC) is looking for a dedicated, hard-working and passionate volunteer to assist with promoting our Shark Swim Challenge. This is an ideal opportunity for a marketing/media student or recent graduate to raise awareness of shark conservation and help generate participants in this amazing fundraising adventure holiday. Write and circulate press releases and pitch stories to journalists where appropriate. • Create opportunities for promoting the Shark Swim Challenge to staff of large corporate organisations. • Use social media, including Twitter and Facebook, for creative online marketing.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Marine Conservation Officer and Media & Communications Officer on the marketing activities related to the Shark Swim Challenge.
