Summer / Autumn 2008/09 rangeWine club

White dozen $185

Two bottles of each:

Temple Bruer Wines ● Riesling 2006
Riesling from the vineyard ripened perfectly in the months leading up to the 2006 vintage making this wine typical of the variety with an intense citrus blossom fragrance. A crisp lemon-lime lift with some pineapple notes on the palate combine to make a versatile food wine, particularly with seafood.

Tamburlaine Organic Wines ● Gestalt Verdelho 2007
This is no wall flower – but floral, yes. Always fresh, attractive and generous – people simply like her. A little Semillon zest on the end – inspired!
Tamburlaine Organic Wines ● Gestalt Chardonnay 2007
Not for wimps - a quality makeover of fashions past; a theme worth varying. I'm thinking stonefruits, coconut, vanilla and lime - another glass and I'll be back to you.
Rosnay Organic Wines ● Chardonnay Semillon 2006
A classic unwooded blend of Chardonnay (75%) and Semillon (25%), this wine is pale straw in colour, with a nose of apricot, banana, gooseberry and pineapple. The palate has good length and mineral overtones balanced with citrus, pineapple and rockmelon notes and a zippy, flinty mouthfeel.

The warm and dry 2007 growing season saw lower than average yields but produced Chardonnay with great regionality. This unwooded version is one of the best examples of its style, with aromas at the tropical end of the spectrum including melon, peach and lychees. On the palate the wine is clean and lively with a similar suite of flavours to the bouquet, and finishes with an attractive touch of residual sugar balanced by crisp acidity. The only secret behind the vibrancy of this wine is very gentle handling in the winery. The absence of oak treatment highlights the natural fruit flavours.
Note: Cape Jaffa Wines are currently converting from biodynamic to organic and will be fully certified in February 2008.
Macquariedale Organic Wines ● Chardonnay 2007
Trophy and Gold medal at the Hunter Boutique Wine Show. Long and clean on the palate showing some peach and melon flavour with well integrated light oak maturation.

Red dozen $185 Image

Two bottles of each:

Pig in the House ● Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Deep red brick in colour this wine has aromas of stewed berries and dusty oak. The palate is full and rich with wild berry fruit flavours, soft tannins and a long earthy finish.
Rosnay Organic Wines ● Triple Blend 2005
Deep garnet red, the wine has a sweet, sappy bouquet of blueberry, blackcurrant and dark plums. The palate is bold and firm with ample fruit richness to fill this solid frame. The tannin structure is firm but fine.

Kalleske Wines ● Clarry’s Barossa Red 2006
The wine is rich red in colour  with purple hues. Impressive aromas of perfumed Grenache grapes, red roses, cinnamon spice, turkish delight, raspberry and a hint of chocolate emanate from the glass.
The harmonious palate is mouth filling with intense pure fruit flavours balanced with subtle chalky tannins and a smooth texture.  A generous finish completes this opulent wine. An approachable and fruit-driven wine that is best enjoyed over the next five years.

Botobolar Vineyard ● Preservative Free Dry Red 2007
Sweet ripe berry fruit, with nutty characters. There is a zippy tang on the tongue, lovely soft rounded tannins and an easy lingering finish. This wine is a great choice for the health conscious. Enjoy with your favourite winter soul food.

Tamburlaine ● Gestalt Cabernets 2005
Cabernet Sauvignon/Cab. Franc. An impression of sweetness (but with a dark side - blackberries & blackcurrants that is). All round good breeding - great start, nice middle, gentle end (the wine that is)
Macquariedale Organic Wines ● Shiraz 2006
A medium Hunter style with red berry flavour and light oak treatment. Can be chilled for summer enjoyment.
