In a frenzy over what to get the man with everything for Father’s Day? Would your dad identify with a powerful presence at the top of the food chain? Feed dad’s self image and save the environment at the same time by adopting him a shark.
“The Grey Nurse Shark is critically endangered with an extremely high risk of local extinction in the near future,” said Ben Birt, marine conservation officer of the Nature Conservation Council of NSW.
“It poses no real threat to humans but we are the cause of its declining numbers.
“With less than 500 individuals surviving off the east coast of Australia, the Grey Nurse Shark is in urgent need of protection.
“This Father’s Day, make your dad the leader of the pack by adopting a shark for him.”
You can adopt a shark for as little as $75 a year, $140 for two years or $200 for three years. The money goes towards raising awareness and protecting the grey nurse shark.
Each ‘parent’ receives:
• Adoption Certificate.
• A Grey Nurse Shark tattoo and poster.
• The opportunity to name your shark and register it on our ‘adopt a shark’ website
• Grey Nurse Shark CD containing educational games and fact sheets and some great Grey Nurse Shark images.
• Quarterly email updates on Grey Nurse Sharks with information articles, research updates, sighting reports and other marine conservation information.
The NCC also makes a $5 contribution to Grey Nurse Shark research with each adoption.
Adopt a Sharkis supported by Project AWARE, the dive industry’s leading non-profit environmental organisation. Proceeds go to the Nature Conservation Council’s shark conservation program.
