NSW Nature Conservation Council Planning Watch
——————————————————–
Tell the NSW Nature Conservation Council if the new NSW Planning laws have affected the environment in your area!
The NCC is monitoring the affects of the changes to NSW planning law.
The NSW Government has been pursuing a policy of Planning Law reform since 2005. The majority of these reforms were pushed through the NSW Parliament in July 2008.
NSW is now in the process of implementing these changes.
The NCC is concerned that many of these changes will reduce protection for NSW’s environment, particularly threatened species and their habitats.
The Standard LEP is being progressively implemented in all Council area in NSW. This will result in zoning changes and may affect the environment.
Part 3A developments are assessed according to standards determined by the Minister at the time. Part 3A overides the Threatened Species Conservation Act NSW 1995.
The Joint Regional Planning Panels will remove planning decisions from Local Councils.
If you or your local member group are concerned please contact the NCC and tell us how you are being affected.
